Exactly 2,863,106 used the terminals run by Aeropuertos Argentinos 2000 last month, a 6.3% increase when measured against the previous May.
In the metropolitan airports the trend was in both directions due to flights being shifted from Aeroparque to Ezeiza – the latter received 825,657 passengers, 9.5% more than the 753,750 of May, 2017, while Aeroparque traffic dropped off 7.8% (966,566 passengers as against 1,047,569 in the previous May).
Elsewhere the trend was strongly positive for the most part although some inland aiports registered sharp reductions, usually due to closures for works.
The highest percentage was enjoyed by Jujuy with a 91.1% surge to 38,149 passengers - the result of the temporary closure of nearby Salta Airport and the new Flybondi frequencies. Next follow Tucumán with 37% (81,373 passengers), Bariloche at 30.5% (72,121), Córdoba with 20.6% (274,808), Mendoza 15.5% (171,843) and Comodoro Rivadavia 5.5% (52,055), all by comparison with May, 2017.
This strong growth was partially offset by falls in certain airports – 34.7% less at the Iguazú Falls (down to 39,309 passengers from 60,216 the previous May), a drop of 13.8% at Salta (271,201) and 8.1% less at Río Gallegos (17,775) – in all cases due to renovation and expansion except the Santa Cruz provincial capital.
