Aeropuertos Argentina 2000 is committed to building a better, fairer and more sustainable world. Since 2015 it has been working on the United Nations 2030 agenda, contributing to various Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), promoting projects and programs that positively impact the communities in which the company is present.
Within the framework of equal opportunities, development and innovation, investments are made in different programs with a focus on Education (SDG # 4), access to water (SDG # 6), gender equality (SDG # 5), generation of employment (SDG # 8) and health (SDG # 3).
The objective is that all the terminals of Aeropuertos Argentina 2000 are accessible to all users therefore, infrastructure is being adapted and employees are trained to achieve this goal. These are SDG # 10 and SDG # 11.
Regarding the climate agenda, the company works mainly on optimizing energy consumption (SDG # 7); in the treatment of waste and effluents, in the responsible use of natural resources (SDG # 12) and in the preservation and respect for biodiversity (SDG # 15).
In addition, the Environmental Monitoring Program assesses and systematizes the greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions derived from the company's energy consumption to implement actions that allow measuring and minimizing the carbon footprint following the guidelines of the ISO 14064 standard. In 2018, Aeropuertos Argentina 2000 measured the carbon footprint under the accreditation of the Airport Carbon Accreditation (ACA) at the Jorge Newbery Airport and since 2019 at the Ezeiza airport (ODS # 13).
Comodoro Rivadavia airport was inaugurated with LEED certification (Leadership in Energy & Environmental Design, certification system for sustainable buildings) being the first in South America to recieve this recognition (ODS # 9).
All these actions are carried out in alliance with national and international organizations, state agencies, with civil society organizations and fundamentally with the airport community, working together to achieve the objectives. 2020 is a clear example of the importance and need of cooperation, solidarity and transformation to build a more equitable and sustainable world.
